Abstract
Penelitian tentang pembuatan, karakterisasi, dan pengujian kinerja DMFC (Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) aktif dan pasif telah dilakukan. Elektroda yang digunakan dibuat dengan mendistribusikan katalis Pt-Co/C pada Gas diffusion Layer (GDL) dengan metode penyemprotan dan dikaraktresasi dengan Cylic Voltammetry (CV), dan Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). Aktifitas katalitik permukaan elektroda ditentukan dari nilai ECSA (Electrochemical Surface Area) dimana nilai ECSA ditentukan dari data pengukuran menggunakan metode analisis CV. Nilai ECSA dari elektroda dengan katalis Pt-Co/C adalah sebesar 398,92 cm2/g dan nilai konduktivitas elektrik sebesar 7,579x10-4S/cm. Nilai Open Circuit Voltage (OCV) tertinggi ditunjukkan oleh MEA DMFC pasif pada konsentrasi metanol 15v/v% dan MEA DMFC aktif pada kosentrasi methanol 5v/v%. Hasil uji kinerja MEA pada DMFC pasif menunjukkan kerapatan daya maksimumnya 25mW/cm2 pada konsentrasi metanol 15v/v%, dan kerapatan daya maksimum untuk DMFC aktif pada konsentrasi metanol 5v/v% sebesar 12mW/cm2.
