Abstract
The use of transformers that are used constantly can affect the quality of the transformer oil. To determine the quality of the transformer oil testing need DGA (Dissolved Gas Analysis). This test is used to determine the amount of content that is dissolved in the transformer oil. There are four methods used in interpreting the results of DGA testing, the method are TDCG, Key Gas, Roger's Ratio and Duval's Triangle. Based on previous research, method superior in responding to failures in the transformer is a method of Roger's Ratio and Duval's Triangle. Thus the authors conducted a study to compare the effectiveness of both methods. The object used is three transformers in different substation located in South Sumatra, namely SL Simpang Tiga, SL Sekayu SL Seduduk Putih. SL Simpang Tiga, Roger's Ratio method and the method of Duval's Triangle equally replied that the transformer failure by type of failure Thermal Faults >700 ℃. SL Sekayu, Roger's Ratio method answered failures in transformers is Thermal Faults >700 ℃ when testing 1st, while the testing of the 2nd and 3rd of this method can not answer failures in transformers. Duval's Triangle answered failures in transformers is Thermal Faults >700 ℃ on testing 1st, while the testing of the 2nd and 3rd failure are Discharges of Mixtures of Low Energy and Thermal and Electrical. SL Seduduk Putih, method of Roger's Ratio answered failures is Thermal Faults 300 ℃ to700 ℃ while Duval's Triangle method answered failure is Thermal Faults <300 ℃. Based on the research that has been done, the method of Duval's Triangle to be more effective than the methods Roger's Ratio.
