Abstract

In the distribution of electrical energy in the substation there is a source of energy namely direct voltage (DC), which is that is the battery’s that acts as a power supply to the motor in PMS and PMT, protection equipment and emergency lighting. The failure of the DC supply will have an impact on the possibility failure to the protection system at the substation when the interference current occurs. So discharge of battery’s is needed to do to know the capacity and efficiency of the battery’s that used, so it can estimate the battery's ability to supply DC loads continuously. This research was carried out at the Sungai Kedukan Substation in Palembang by taking battery’s discharge data in 2016 and carried out in 2019. Knowing the battery’s capacity from the battery voltage that changes per cell during the discharge process and also the discharge time. Then can determine battery’s efficiency from the comparison between discharge capacity of battery’s with the actual capacity of battery’s. So that we can be analyzed the effect of discharge process for the capacity and efficiency 110 VDC battery’s at the Sungai Kedukan substation in Palembang. Capacity of battery’s discharge process in 2016 was 94,63 Ah and efficiency was 55,67% while in 2019 the capacity of battery’s was 88,4 Ah and efficiency was 52%. There was a decrease in capacity of battery’s that is 6.23 Ah and a decrease in the efficiency of battery’s it was 3.67%. Keywords : DC Supply, Discharging, Capacity, Efficiency.
