Abstract
This research was conducted to examine the growth and yield of shallot at various growing media compositions. This research was conducted in the experiment al field and Laboratory of Plant Physiology, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University Indralaya. This research was started from October 2016 to January 2017. The experiment was arranged in randomized block design with 6 treatments and 5 replications. Each unit treatment consisted of 3 plants, resulting in total 90 plants. The treatment was the growing media compositions, consisted of : A0 : Soil, A1 : Soil : Palm Bunches stertilizer (2:1), A2 : Soil : Chicken Manure (2:1), A3 : Soil : Cow Manure (2:1), A4 : Soil : Chicken Manure : Palm Bunches Stertilizer (2:1:1), A5 : Soil : Cow Manure : Palm Bunches Stertilizer (2:1:1). The parameters were plant height, leaf number per panicle, tiller number per clump, tuber number per clump, tuber fresh weight per clump, tuber dry weight per clump. The results showed that the growing media consisting of soil and chicken manure with a ratio of 2 : 1 (v:v) was the best for growth and gave the highest yield of shallot.
