Abstract

Bengkulu is a province located in southern part and southwest coast of Sumatra Island. Bengkulu directly front Indian Ocean made Bengkulu area influenced by Indian Ocean sea surface temperature (SST) characteristics, it also causes precipitation in Bengkulu varied, it is necessary to do research on temporal variation and spatial SST and its correlation to rainfall. This research aimed to assess temporal and spatial variations of sea surface temperature and precipitation in most waters Bengkulu and their relations (2004-2014). Field data taken on November 2015 and use data from NOAA Satellite is used as image data. Sea surface temperatures in research area varied from 27,1°C to 27,8°C for temporal and 27,1°C to 27,5°C for spatial, average is 27,4°C. The average sea surface temperature is 27,4°C. Rainfall in research area varied between 5 mm/day up to 18 mm/day for temporal and 4 mm/day up to 14 mm/day for spatial, average is 8 mm/day. The analysis sea surface temperature and precipitation correlation result showed value 0,056.
