Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF-REGULATION AND TENDENCY OF INSTAGRAM ADDICTION IN INSTAGRAM USERS AT X UNIVERSITY Anidiah Paramesti1, Ayu Purnamasari2 ABSTRACT This research aims to know the relationship between self-regulation and tendency of Instagram addiction in Instagram users at X University. This hypothesis was there is relationship between. Self-regulation and tendency of Instagram addiction in Instagram users at X University. The subject was 160 X University student who actively using Instagram every day and spend 5 hours to more for a day. Tendency of Instagram addiction was measured by Test for Instagram Addiction (TIA) scale from D'Souza, Samyukta, dan Bivera (2019) and self-regulation measured by Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SRQ) from Brown, Miller, & Lawendowski (1999). Data analysis using simple correlation Spearman analysis. The result of the correlation Spearman showed that there is relationship between self-regulation and tendency of Instagram addiction in Instagram users at X University with value of r = -0,460, and p = 0,000 (p<0,05). It shows that self-regulation has moderate, negative, and significant relationship with tendency of Instagram addiction. Thus the hypothesis in this research was accepted.
