Abstract

A research about the usage of durian shell as electrochemistry double layer capacitor had been done. The purposes of this research were to synthesize nano sized carbon that could be used as electrochemistry double layer capacitor and to make electrode palette, also to examine its elecrochemistry properties. Durian shell carbon was synthesized using carbonization method for 16 hours and pirolized with variuos time of 15, 20, 25, dan 30 minutes. The conductivity value, micro pore volume, total pore volume, and surface area of durian shell carbon were determined. Carbon with the highest value from those parameters were then used as electrode raw material. The electrochemistry properties of the electrode were then tested to acknowledge its capacity value. The electrode was made from carbon with concact time of 25 minutes with conductivity value of 0,031 S.cm-1, micro pore volume of 0,215 cm3g-1, total pore volume of 0,560 cm3g-1, and surface area of 475,432 m2g-1. Carbon was charactherized using XRD, FTIR, and SEM-EDX. The result showed that the carbon contained SiO2 (Quartz) at the peak of 28,320, KHCO3 (kalicinite) at the peak of 24,230, and Fe3O4 crystal (magnetite) at the peak of 29,930. The carbon had alkane group at 1440 cm-1. Durian shell carbon had micro pore of 20μm with silica in it. The highest capacity value of electrode was at ratio of 7 : 3 with (NH4)2C2O4 2M with scan rate of 5 mV was 0,0183 F.g-1.
