Abstract
Background. Infertility is an inability for a woman to be pregnant in more than a year period of time (for woman below 35 years old), or in 6 months period of time (for woman over 35 years old) with regular frequence of sexual intercourse (3-4 times per week) without any contraception. Amount of Infertility in Indonesia is quite high, around 20-30% population, even increasing to 15-20% for now. Some researches stating that obesity also affecting the increasement of infertility risk. A person considered as obesity if Body Mass Index (BMI) reaches to ≥30 kg/m2. Obesity on woman, could increase estrogen that disturbs the hormonal balance and affects menstruation cycle that leads to infertility. This research aiming to knowing the correlation in between obesity and infertility on fertile age woman at Widiyanti fertility clinic at Palembang city. Methods. Research that has been done is an analytic observational research with cross sectional design. Sampling has been done with total sampling technics, to fertile age woman age 21-40 years old who comes to Widiyanti fertility clinic, Palembang. Result. From 75 respondents earned age average 30,573 years old, median 29 years old and deviation standard 4,6242 years old. 17 woman who has obesity and 50 woman has infertility. Based on the bivariate analysis that has been done, there is no significant correlation in between obesity and infertility (p=0,283). Summary. There is no significant correlation (p=0,283) in between infertility and obesity on fertile age woman.
