Abstract

Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan STEM pada materi alat-alat optik terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik kelas XI IPA1 dan XI IPA 3 SMA Negeri 2 Palembang. Metode kuasi eksperimental dengan desain non equivalent digunakan dalam penelitian ini, dimana dalam penelitian ini terdapat dua kelas yaitu, kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Prosedur penngambilan sampel mengunakan sampling purposive dengan anggota populasi dan sampel ialah peserta didik Kelas XI IPA 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI IPA 3 sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes yang terdiri dari 10 soal pilihan ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukan rata-rata pretest dan posttest pada kelas eksperimen dan kontrol meningkat. Dimana selisih pretest dan posttest kelas eksperimen adalah 6,0 sedangkan untuk kelas kontrol sebesar 4,9. Dari dua data tersebut peningkatan hasil belajar di kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan data hasil dari selisih pretest dan posttest didapatkan hasil uji-Z, dimana Zhitung nya adalah 3,02 dan Ztabelnya 1,96. Hasil tersebut menunjukan bahwa Zhitung lebih besar dibandingkan Ztabelnya maka dapat disimpulkan terdapat pengaruh pendekatan STEM terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik.
