Abstract
The performance test of circular saw chopper machine in various concave range using chopper cylinder and type of materials was aimed to determine chopper machine performance in various concave range and different type of materials. The research used Factorial Block Random Design (RAKF) with two consisting, concave range in chopper cylinders (A) which were 9, 12, 15 mm and type of materials (B) which were rice straw, tunnel grass, and pasture grass. Each treatment combination was repeated three times. Parameter observed were theoretical capacity of the machine, effective performance capacity, efficiency performance of the machine, fuel consumption, power requirements, and chopping yield. The theoretical capacity for rice straw was 20.48 kg/hour, tunnel grass of 25.30 and pasture grass of 17.10. The highest effective capacity was found in treatment combination of the range between concave and chopper cylinder of 15 mm with rice straw material with magnitude of 18.02 kg/hour. The highest efficiency was found in treatment combination of the range between concave and chopper cylinder of 15 mm with pasture grass material with magnitude of 94.37 %. The highest fuel consumption was found in treatment combination of concave and chopper cylinder of 9 mm with rice straw material with magnitude of 0.915 liter/hour. The power requirements of circular saw chopper machine was 4.95 hp. The highest chopping result that passed of 9 mesh was found in treatment combination between concave and chopper cylinder of 9 mm with rice straw material with magnitude of 39.01 %.
