Abstract

Chitosan is a cationic natural polymers. Cationic properties make chitosan can interact with anionic compounds via cross-linked bond and from particles in nano size. Nanoparticles component were consisted of griseofulvin, chitosan, sodium alginate, and CaCl2 using CaCl2 with concentrations of 20, 40, and 100 µL. Three formulas consecutively generate encapsulation efficiency percentage (%EE) of 86.523 ± 0.339%; 88.775 ± 0.340%; and 83.415 ± 0.206%. The result of nanoparticles characterization such as diameter and particles distribution (Poly Dispersity Index/PDI) and potential zeta using Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) were 14.3 nm; 0.191; and +13.9 mV. PDI value obtained by manual calculation was 0.150. Particles permeability was observed through in vitro diffusion testing using Franz diffusion cell. The result of diffusion test during 24 hours showed the highest diffusion of chitosan-griseofulvin nanoparticles was 6.415 ± 0.060%, compared with pure griseofulvin solution with diffusion percentage of 3.999 ± 0.051%. Containing nanoparticles griseofulvin highest diffusion compared with pure griseofulvin.
