Abstract
The purposes of this research were: 1) identify business diversification that done by household of rice farmer in swampy lowland area, 2) counted business diversification income and contribution of income sources to diversification income, 3) analyze the factors that affect the household of diversification income in swampy lowland area, and 4) analyze the needs of household farmer with rice cultivation income, and household income. This research had held in two villages were Arisan Jaya Village and Tanjung Agas Village at Ogan Ilir Regency which had different on accessibility. Choice of location were purposifly. Data collection from both villages had done on December 2016 until April 2017 with survey method. Sampling method that used in this research was disproportionate stratified random sampling with respondent amount were 60 rice farmers. The results of this research showed that business diversification activity which done by household of rice farmer in swampy lowland area was horizontal diversification. The rice cultivation income and its contribution to the diversification income was smaller than non-rice cultivation income and noncultivation in the poor accessibility village and good accessibility village. The result of the regression analysis using SPSS 20, showed that the factors that had positive significant affect to the household income of rice farmer were the area of land and number of business. According to that result, the diversification income was elastic to the number of business. The household needs of rice farmer in poor accessibility village and in good accessibility village can not be fulfilled if only rely on rice cultivation income only. However, if relying on household income, it can be fulfilled in poor accessibility villages, while in villages with good accessibility still can not be fulfilled yet.
