Abstract
Vertikultur cultivation is the cultivation method utilizing the water column as growing media in the cultivation of seaweed.The purposes of this study were to determine the growth of seaweed E. cottoniiwith relative growth rate, daily growth rate and effectiveness of seaweedE. cottoniicultivation by verticulture method.This researched has conducted in June to July 2016. Data were analyzed using non-parametric statistical Kruskal Walliswith and further test of LSD with a level of α = 5%. The result of the study showed that the higest value of average relative growth rate was 1,05 for 4th cultivation level (BRL 4) at a depth of 120 cm and the lowest was 0,71 for 10thcultivation level (BRL 10) at a depth 360 cm. The higest value of daily growth rate was 3,15 % for BRL 4 and the lowest was 2,29% at the BRL 10. The cultivation level of BRL 4, BRL 1, and BRL 3 (depth 120 cm, 0 cm and 90 cm) are the best cultivation level for cultivate E. cottonii in verticulture.
