Abstract

This study aims to find out what coping strategies are used to survive in face the problems and how the ability of single parent to rise up after divorce. This study used qualitative research methods. Researchers look for the subject by way of purposive. Subjects in this study is a single parent who divorced due to ex-husband cheating amounted to 2 people. In addition to the subject, there are two actors with the same characteristics. The data obtained are then analyzed and interpreted using Moutakas theory through epoche, reduction, imaginative variation, and also synthesis of meaning and essence. The results of this study indicate that coping strategies used by single parent to survive in the face of problems are problem-focused coping, emotional-focused coping, hope for self-efficacy and social support. In addition, single parent also has the ability to resilience so that it can bounce back from the slump of post-divorce.
