Abstract
The family is the primary service provider, in desperate need of emotional support, information, knowledge and skills during the care of stroke patients. This study aims to determine the family experience in caring for stroke patients at the home and how the family memaknai experience. The method used is qualitative with approach of dekskriptif phenomenology, for data retrieval this research is done by depth interview. Informants were selected by purposive sampling technique. Informants in this study is a family who is in charge of caring for stroke patients at home. This study identified four themes: (1) family knowledge (2) family attitudes (3) ways of care given family (4) obstacles faced by family. The results show that families who care for stroke patients at home are all done by the biological children. care done at home by the family includes daily fulfillment and spiritual fulfillment. In doing home care experience negative experiences such as the presence of emotional changes and behavior in patients who make family feelings become sad and changes in the family. The experience of such treatment leads to changes in the family in the form of psychological and physical changes in the family that affects the family's ability to care for the patient.
