Abstract

Picky eateris a situation where children are not willing or reject to eat and have difficulties to consume foods and drinks.The attitude and relationship of parents with children, or also called parenting that is not good can affect the psychological of the child which eventually resulted in an eating disorders for the children. Poorparenting can affect a child's psychological condition which later results in eating disorders in children and results in a lack of nutritional intake. Lubuk Sakti village is one of the villages in Indralaya sub-district which still has a number of children with nutritional problems.The purpose of this study was to look at the relationship of parenting style with picky eater behavior in children aged 24-59 months in Lubuk Sakti Indralaya village in 2019. This type of research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional design. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling or done randomly regardless of the strata in the population with 70 total sample of respondens. Data collection using questionnaires and data analysis using the chi square test.The results showed that there was a relationship between maternal support in feeding practices (p = 0,000), psychosocial stimuli (p = 0,000), food preparation and processing (P = 0,050) with Picky eater and no relation to hygiene practices (p = 0,673) and treatment toddler health (p = 0,719) with picky eater behavior.So it is suggested to parents in Lubuk Sakti Village to pay attention to the distance of eating children, reducing snacks, paying attention to preparation and processing of food and bringing the children to the health facilities
