Abstract
The aim of this research was to know water quality in tilapia fish pond based on physical, chemical and biological data. The research has been conducted from February until August 2014 at Mulyasari Village, Tanjung Lago Subdistrict, Banyuasin District. The treatments used were pond with tertiary water sources (K1), secondary water sources (K2) and rainfed water sources (K3). Results of this current research show that water quality level of all ponds could not support the survival rate and growth of tilapia yet. There were low in pH (4-6) and brightness (8.33-47.67 cm), and high in ammonia (0.03-1.27 mg.L-1) that caused low survival rate and tilapia growth. Base on t-test, there were no significant differences effect on survival rate and weight growth. However, for length growth, there were significantly different effect between K1-K3 and K2-K3, except K1-K2. In conclusion, water quality of tilapia pond in tidal lowland need to be managed in order to promote tilapia survival rate and growth rate.
