Abstract

Paddy is commodity of food crop in which its productivity is tried to be increased by using efforts such utilization of tidal swamp lowland and one of the method was the using of tidal land. Whoever some problems existed in rice production such as yield losser during harvest and post-harvest stages resulting in under optimum production. The objective of research was to study paddy harvesting and post-harvesting management on tidal swamp lowland at Mulia Sari, Tanjung Lago, Banyuasin, South Sumatera. Research was done from January 2015 to March 2016. Research used survey method with purposive sampling. The result showed that, paddy harvesting and post-harvesting at Mulia Sari were conducted by using traditional tools such sickle for harvesting, canvast for drying, and canvas for storage. Availability of supporting tools paddy for harvesting and post-harvesting was still limited. Harvesting process was conducted by using Indo combine harvester, power thresher for threshing, box drier for drying, and rice huller for milling. Farmers have not done good harvesting and post-harvesting management yet, especially on harvesting threshing, drying, and storage.
