Abstract

The purpose of this research are: 1) Identifying sources of livelihood which is used as an alternative if the price of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) has decreased. 2) to analyze differences in the incomes of farmers in the village self Berlian Makmur Sungai Lilin before and after the price of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) has decreased. 3) Calculate the contribution of other revenues against total income independent smallholders 4) to analyze the level of welfare of farmers in the village self Berlian Makmur Village, Sungai Lilin Musi Banyuasin the total income received after oil prices fell in line with the standards of the Living Needs. This research was conducted in the village of Berlian Makmur Village, Sungai Lilin Musi Banyuasin Determination. Sampling is done by a random method (simple random sampling) by taking 40 independent smallholders as samples from the village of Berlian Makmur with a total number of 215 farmers' self-help Results of empirically show that the livelihoods of other farmers do selfhelp in the village of Berlian Makmur after FFB price drops consisted of farming non palm covering rubber, and non-farm covers with variations in the type of business include merchants, drivers, tailors, and shopkeepers , Revenue palm oil palm farmers self before oil prices fell more than in the non-oil palm farmers' income after oil prices fell by a margin of comprehensive income of Rp132.958,33 per claim per month. The decline in the price of fresh fruit bunches in 2015 did not real different affect the income of independent smallholders. Other business revenue contribution to the total revenue of all work performed independent smallholders 75,82 percent so that other livelihoods (rubber, and non-farming) real different affects the income received by independent smallholders. Standard Living Needs (KHL) by independent smallholders Rp2.055.866,17 each month each person, with the average income for a decline in prices of Rp1.097.374,29 each household and the average KHL total respondents is Rp3.781.551,81 each month each family, so that there is a difference of Rp1.471.703,61 each month per family. Revenue received independent smallholders can not yet meet the standards of the Living Needs (KHL). Based on t-test the effect of a decrease in the price of fresh fruit bunches not significantly affect the welfare of the family in this case using a decent standard of living needs (KHL).
