Abstract
Oxcarbazepine is used as monotherapy or additional therapy for partial attacks (simple, complex, secondary general). This study aims to formulate oxcarbazepine liposomes which have the ability to deliver preparations to penetrate the nasal mucosa with the components of Soya lecithin and cholesterol using thin film hydration method. The effect of cholesterol concentration was observed on organoleptic responses, percent EE, pH, viscosity and stability decreased. The optimum formula response was organoleptis white liquid and soybean odor, percent EE 92.6327%, pH 8,47, viscosity 1,090847 cP, stability decreased 0,3447%. The optimum formula produces a particle size of 579 nm with a PDI value of 0.347 and a potential zeta - 99.38 mV. The percent diffusion of oxcarbazepine liposomes was 62.2635% larger than usual pure oxcarbazepine 41.9705%. The compartemental analysis of the optimum formula showed that oxcarbazepine liposomes followed the lag time compartment model. All the results (except pH) of this analysis indicate that oxcarbazepine liposomes can be used in intranasal drug delivery.
