Abstract
The fermentation of sugarcane bagasse using Candida tropicalis that assisted hydothermal procces for producing bioethanol has been conducted. This research was done in three steps, i.e, delignification, hydrolysis and fermentation. The surface morphology and the element mass percentage of sugarcane bagasse before and after delignification were analyzed using SEM-EDX instrument, while the result of hydrolysis was analyzed by DNS method and HPLC. Ethanol content after fermentation process was measured using GC. Some of parameters which were conducted in this study at the delignification process was done with various additional glacial acetic acid (0.14; 0.28; 0.42 mL) and various of fermentation time (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 days). The SEM result showed that through delignification process observed particle size tends to be smaller, and the smallest average size of particles were obtained at sugarcane bagasse various of 0.42 mL glacial acetic acid was 74.479 μm. The result of EDX analysis showed changes of the chemical components composition before and after delignification. Hydrolysis process with hydrothermal using KOH obtained the highest reduction sugar at sugarcane bagasse various of 0.42 mL glacial acetic acid (various of delignification process) was 0.289 mg / mL. The highest ethanol content was 5.94 x 10-3 mL/g at 3 days of fermentation time with sugarcane bagasse various of 0.42 mL glacial acetic acid (various of delignification process).
