Abstract

The purpose of the research was to know the biogas potency in the slurry produced from sneakhead fish (Channa striata) processing waste by addition of aquatic weeds. This research used the completely randomized design and treatment factor such as addition of an aquatic weeds that is the water hyacinth (E. Crassipes), Salvina (Salvina molesta) and Azolla (Azolla pinnata) which took part 20% of total composition respectively. Each treatment was added biostarter (cow manure) 10% which homogenized with distilled water in the ratio 1: 1. Parameters observation slurry consist of degree of acidity (pH), temperature, C/N ratio, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Solids (TS) and Volatile Solids (VS). Then the parameters of biogas produced were the rate of biogas production, biogas volume and methane gas content. Initial characteristics slurry on the addition of aquatic weeds showed an increase in C/N ratio and content of COD, on the other hand the degree of acidity (pH), TS and VS decreased. During the fermentation process the entire parameters organic content of slurry (C/N ratio, COD, TS and VS) was decreasing due to the activity of microorganism. The best treatment was A2 treatment of slurry produced from the mixing process waste sneakhead fish (Channa striata) with aquatic weed be Salvina (Salvina molesta) with biogas volume of 2,776 ml / 600 ml slurry containing methane gas amounted to 54,74%.
