Abstract
The objective of the research was to determine the effect of air velocity to the combustion process rate of down-draft gasifier. The research was conducted at the Workshop and Laboratory Technology Officer, Rubber Research Institute Sembawa, Banyuasin, from April 2016 until Juli 2016. This study used a Randomized Block Design Factorial with two treatment factors. They where the type of fuel and air velocity. Each treatment consisted of three levels of fuel and three levels of air velocity with three replications. The data obtained were analyzed by using variance analyzed (ANOVA). The data folowwed by a significant effect, continues with the test of Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) at 5% level. The result showed that the type of fuel and air velocity to the combustion process rate of down-draft gasifier significantly affect the value of operating time of combustion with higest opertaing time of combustion in treatment A2 with a value 1,35 hours and B1 with a value 1,03 hours. The higest ash content in treatment A2 with a value 12,25% and B1 with a value 5,89%. The higest Fuel consumption rate in treatment A3 with a value 2,48 kg/m2 and B3 with a value 2,24 kg/m2. The highest spesific rate of gasification in treatment A3 with value 65,53 kg/m2.hours and B3 with a value 59,32 kg/m2.hours. The highest of heat efficiency in treatment A1 with a value 9,54 m/s and B2 with a value 6,04 m/s.
