Abstract

The objective of the research was to obtain the must effective population density and frequency of watering combination. This research was conducted from November 2016 to Januari 2017 in Departement of Agronomy’s greenhouse, Sriwijaya University. The research used Latin Square Design (LSD). Population density treatment consisted of 5, 6, and 7 plants per meter of chamfer and once (500 ml) and twice (250 ml) watering in a day. The research indicated that 5 plants with once a day watering treatment combination gave the best result on height, leaf number, texture organoleptic, fresh weight, dry weight, and plant water content compared with other treatment combinations. The population density treatments showed that there was influence on growth because too tenuous row spacing lead no competition between crops, however affect the lettuce production. The watering frequency gave significant effect on plant height in 35 dap and leaf number in 35 dap however not significant on chlorophyll, color and texture organileptic, fresh weight, dry weight, and plants water content. Once a day watering frequency in the morning with 500 ml water tend to give better growth effects.
