Abstract

The purpose of this research were to: (1) examine the management functions of rubber cultivation at PT Gembala Sriwijaya, (2) analyze the success rate of rubber cultivation of PT Gembala Sriwijaya according to the standard of best management practice, (3) determine a strategy to apply best management practice of rubber cultivation at PT Gembala Sriwijaya. The research was conducted at PT Gembala Sriwijaya Gelumbang District Muara Enim. Data collecting was conducted in March 2017 and used case study method. Data collected were primary and secondary data. The results of this research showed that the management of rubber cultivation at PT Gembala Sriwijaya included the determination of the requirements of growing plants, planting materials, preparation of planting, planting, plant maintenance, and tapping/harvest. The success rate of the application of best management practice on the management of rubber cultivation at PT Gembala Sriwijaya is considered high, but needs to be increased again. The functions management of rubber cultivation at PT Gembala Sriwijaya includes long-term planning and short-term planning, organizing, actuating, controlling. The strategies for the implementation of best management practice in the rubber cultivation of PT Gembala Sriwijaya utilizing internal and external factors consisting of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
