Abstract
Coal is one of the most used energy resources in the world. Right now, about 22% of our Indonesia energy consumption is being supplied by coal industry. Indonesia in 2030 ,have a plan to increase the use of the coal energy proportion to 30% in order to supply the energy consumption. PT. Bumi Merapi Energi is one of the coal mining industry who have a responsibility to acheive that target. Right now, Pt. Bumi Merapi Energi is operating in 2 different Pit, namely Selatan Pit and Utara Pit is producing up to 2.000.000 tons of coal a year. PT. Bumi Merapi Energi wants to expand its business by increasing the production. In order to achieve that target, digger and hauler are absolutely needed to provide its production capacity. In investing heavy machinery, there are mainly 3 methods of investment namely, buying, leasing, and renting method. Those 3 methods will provide different invesment component such as investment cost, owning cost, and operating cost and will affect the future cashflow projection and thus will resulting in different investment eligibility such as Net Present Value, Internal rate of return, and Payback Period. Buying method will generates a NPV of Rp. 65.502.415.930, IRR of 48,15%, and PbP of 3,37 year . Meanwhile leasing method will generate a NPV of Rp. 66.950.130.389, ROR of 67,58% and PBP of 3,23 year. Renting method will generate a NPV of Rp. 20.442.430.020, ROR of 23,70% and PbP of 4,32 year. It can be concluded that those 3 methods are eligible to be executed while leasing method is the best alternative between those 3 methods in terms of cost opportunity.
