Abstract

Permanent magnet generator designed in this study utilizes the energy of low amplitude river waves using permanent magnets that move vertically directed translation. The value of the voltage obtained in the river energy power plant system that is designed according to the calculation results is 10.435 V and the average measurement result is 8.182 V. The comparison obtained with previous studies with design using a generator with a rotor produces a voltage of 9.04 V, so it has a the amount of 1,395 is higher than using a translational moving permanent magnet resulting in a voltage of 10.435 V. In the wave simulation movement in the prototype applies the drive of a dc motor, so the measurement data produced tends to be more stable. In implementation it is actually possible to stabilize differences because they are affected by fluctuating natural wave conditions, which will affect the data obtained. Based on this research, it is concluded that the application of generator technology with vertical motion has better results compared to previous studies using rotating rotor generators.
