Abstract

Many pregnant women who do not understand what physical activities that can be done during pregnancy that will affect the quality of life. A good quality of life is associated with good diet and drinking arrangements, balance of daily routine activities, work, exercise, rest. The purpose of this study was to analyze physical activity on the quality of life of pregnant women in the public health center in Palembang. This quantitative research uses a cross sectional study design. Samples of 156 trimester II and trimester III pregnant women were taken by purposive sampling at the PlajuPuskesmas. The results showed there was a relationship between physical activity (p-value=0.035) gestational age (p-value=0.001) education (p-value=0.005) work (p-value=0.004) income (p-value=0.019) insomnia (p-value=0.009) and nutritional status (p-value=0.010) on the quality of life of pregnant women. The results of multivariate analysis showed that the dominant variables affecting the quality of life of pregnant women were physical activity, gestational age, occupation, insomnia, and nutritional status. In this study, the majority of pregnant women had mild physical activity due to the fact that some pregnant women were afraid of disrupting pregnancy if they were doing physical activities during pregnancy. The majority of pregnant women work as traders who engage in more activities while sitting, thereby reducing the physical activity of the mother. It is expected for pregnant women to increase physical activity during pregnancy such as walking, following pregnancy exercise which is done three times a week with a total duration of 150 minutes per week.
