Abstract

Biomassa briquettes can be used as alternative fuels to replace oil and gas fuels in industrial and household activities. Charcoal briquettes are a form of renewable energy from biomass derived from plants that are widely available in the environment. Briquettes can be made using cylindrical or box-shaped printing devices with certain adhesives. The presence of adhesives in briquettes, both in number and type, can affect the quality of the briquettes produced. Briquettes as solid fuel with high calorific value can be used in daily life as substitute for fossil fuels. The results of this study indicates that briquettes produced from pineapple leaves significantly affect the water content, ash content, lost substances level, calorific value and briquette mass, but it does not have significant effect on the briquettes density because briquettes density varies. The larger the particles size, the bigger the pores of briquettes. Briquettes particle size greatly affects the value of briquettes density. The average briquettes density value for each level of latex adhesive is 2%, 4% and 6%. Keywords : Briquettes, pressing machine, latex, pineapple leaves, hydraulics
