Abstract
Problems of forage management in integration of livestock into oil palm and rubber plantations are declining of light as the canopy of the plantation increase. The objective of research was to study the effect of shading and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) inoculations on spore density and colonization rate of AMF and the correlation of colonization rate with P content, shoot and biomass production, effectiveness of shoot and biomass production. Treatments tested were 4 levels of shading as the main plot (0%, 25%, 50%, and 75%) and 4 different AMF inoculations as sub plots (Indigenous AMF, Glomus manihotis, Indigenous AMF+Glomus manihotis and no inoculation). Spore density was influenced by the levels of shade, while the colonization rate influenced by the levels shade and AMF inoculations. There was a positive correlation between colonization with P content, shoot and biomass production, effectiveness of shoot and biomass production.
