Abstract

The road pavement is one of the important factors supporting the development of road transport infrastructure that is environmentally friendly, durable and economical. Therefore, an alternative type of pavement can be used. Stone Matrix Asphalt or can be called SMA is a mixture with gap gradation which contains a large portion of coarse aggregates and forms a skeleton that efficiently spreads the load due to passing vehicles. The utilization of various types of asphalt can be an alternative for the development of a mixture of shipments. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics, comparison of Marshall parameters, and find out the optimum value of asphalt in a mixture of Thin Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) which will be compared with a mixture of Thin SMA using Asbuton, Rubber Asphalt, and Oil Asphalt. In the mixture of Thin SMA using Rubber Asphalt, Asbuton, and Oil Asphalt, the optimum value of those asphalt was 6.8%, 6.93%, 6.83% respectively. From the test results obtained that Rubber Asphalt is better than the other two asphalt, this is indicated by the smallest optimum bitumen content compared to the other two asphalt, stability with a value of 1278.26 Kg, VIM value of 4.47%, the flow of 3.77 mm.
