Abstract
Temperature is one of the factors that influence the transpiration of plants. The phenomenon that causes increase in temperature is global warming. In South Sumatra has shown an increase in air temperature from the phenomenon of global warming. One of the plants estimated to be affected by the increase in air temperature in South Sumatra is Lansium domesticum Corr. It is necessary to conduct research on the effect of increasing air temperature on the transpiration rate of L. domesticum seedlings in an effort to prevent L. domesticum extinction from the impact of global warming. This research was conducted from February to March 2018. Located in Serdang Menang Village, District of Sirah Pulau Padang, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatera Province and Plant Physiology Laboratory, Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. The study used 9 treatments and 3 replicates (1 = 22.9 oC, 2 = 23.6 oC, 3 = 24.4 oC, 4 = 26.3 oC, 5 = 27 oC, 6 = 27.6 oC, 7 = 31.7 oC, 8 = 32.5 oC, and 9 = 32.9 oC) and 3 replications. Measurement of transpiration rate of L. domesticum seedlings using Potometer method modified with additional glass box. The results of this study show the average transpiration rate (mm3/g plant/ hour) of L. domesticum seedlings at 22.9 °C = 4.37, 23.6 oC= 7.03, 24.4 oC = 8.03, 26.3 oC = 10.11, 27 oC = 13.13, 27.6 oC = 17.87, 31.7 oC = 23.21, 32.5 oC = 25.45, and 32.9 oC = 27,24. Increased in air temperature in the treatment made followed by increasing the value of light intensity and decreasing the value of air humidity. Increase in air temperature 1.5 oC (22.9-24.4 oC) causing increase in transpiration rate 3,66 mm3/g plant/hour (4.37-8.03 mm3/g plant/hour), increase in air temperature 1.3 oC (26.3-27.6 oC) causing increase in transpiration rate 7.76 mm3/g plant/hour m (10.11-17.87 mm3/g plant/hour), and increase in air temperature 1.2 oC (31.7-32.9 oC) causing increase in transpiration rate 4.03 mm3/g plant/hour (23.21-27.24 mm3/g plant/hour).
