Abstract
Biodegradation of Asphaltic Fraction by Bacteria Isolated From Oil-Contaminated Soil in The South Sumatra. Asphaltic Faction is one of the components of petroleum hydrocarbons are the most difficult to degrade. Four strains of bacteria have been isolated from oil-contaminated soil in the area of South Sumatra, each of which is Pseudomonas sp-2, Pseudomonas sp-3, Pseudomonas sp-6, and Mycobacterium sp-1. Furthermore, the tested the ability of degrades asphaltic fraction in Mineral Medium supplemented asphaltic fraction and incubated for six days. Testing the ability of degrades performed as single cultures and as a consortium in a mixed culture consisting of four bacteria. The results of degradation as a single culture was Pseudomonas sp-2 and Pseudomonas sp-6 showed asphaltic concentration decreased, but the resulting fractions of saturated and aromatic fractions, whereas Mycobacterium sp-1 and Pseudomonas sp-3 respectively showed asphaltic concentration does not decline, and all bacteria as a single culture showed that CO2 concentration has not changed. The test of a consortium showed that a decline in asphaltic concentrations of 9.36% and increased concentrations of CO2 up to 191.25 ppm, CO2 formation showed that in the form of a consortium capable of degrading the fraction asphaltic perfectly.
