Abstract

Effect of Soil Tillage and Liquid urea on Soil N and Plant N Uptake of Wetland Rice Liquid Urea contains nitrogen about 10 to 28% and this liquid is by product from urea factory. This liquid had applied to chilly plants in low dosages (under 0,02%). Soil tillage is one of way to increase the crop production. Soil tillage also can depress the growth of weeds and make the root of paddy easy to expand. For that, the aim of this research were to learn the effect of liquid urea and tillage on available N of soil and plant N uptake of wetland rice. This experiment was done in lowland experimental plot of Universitas Sriwijaya, lndralaya and analyse was done at laboratory of Soil Chemistry and Fertility, Soil Science Department, Agriculture Faculty, Universitas of Sriwijaya, Indralaya. This experiment was done from June 2005 until December 2005. This experiment was arranged in split plot design with the soil tillage as the main plot and liquid urea as sub plot. The main plot consisted of no- soil tillage (PO) and soil tillage, the sub plot consisted of N-dosage (0, 20, 30 and 40 kg N ha-'). The results show that tillage soil affected number of spicklet of paddy and yield. Liquid urea influenced plant N uptake, maximum and productive tillers, yield and plant height. The combination of soil tillage and liquid urea dosage 30 kg N ha-' was affected available-N of soil. From this experiment we have learned that and suggested that it is not necessary to till this lowland rice field.
