Abstract
The objective of this research was to design a paddy storage with screwed type silo that can control the temperature and the humidity of the paddy by mechanical way. Research method that executed were approach step design, making step tool, testing step tool. The procedures of this research were approach design, making tool, technical and operational analysis and testing tool. The designed silo had total volume of paddy storage about 0,34488 m3 or could storage maximum 190,79 Kg of paddy. The silo was completed by the screwed with screwed rotation power without load rising for 238,69 lb-ft and screwed rotation power to rise the load (the paddy) for 38 lb-ft. Moved screw needed pulley rotation force for 1350 rpm, pulley input reducer rotation force for 870 rpm, pulley output reducer rotation force for 16 rpm, and screw pulley rotation force for 11 rpm with screw efficiency for 62,81%. During 42 days of paddy storage, we could get the average of storage temperature was 28.6 0C, the average of humidity was 62.81%, the average water content of paddy was 13.85%, the colour of the paddy was brownish yellow 10 YR 7/8 and rendemen of grinding paddy was 55.23. The temperature and humidity in silo was influenced by screw movement. The decreased of water content of paddy in the border was faster than in the other parts of paddy in silo.
