Abstract

Food Crops, Horticulture and Farming Department of Musi Banyuasin Regency is a government institution that has the authority to manage, monitor and inform about the production and post-production processes regarding food crops, horticulture and farming. This study focuses on the food crops sector which is known still lacking in terms of existing potential use, start from the utilization of land, utilization of special food crops up to the marketing of commodities from the production phase. One of the causes of this problem is a simple data processing that generates non-optimal information to support decision making related to the development and utilization of food crops potential. Problems can be solved by applying the concept of Business Intelligence that has the capability in data analysis and visualization that fit with the needs of the institution. In this Business Intelligence application, the method that is used is Business Intelligence Roadmap and k-Medoids algorithm which is used to classify districts based on the productivity of their food crop commodities. From the results of grouping using k-Medoid, new knowledge is obtained and the results can help the institution in decisions and policies making process.
