Abstract

Background: Breast carcinoma is the second highest disease to cause death in Indonesia with 58,256 new cases in 2018 and a proportion of 16.7% from all the carcinoma cases. Luminal B is known for its more aggressive clinical behavior and unfavorable prognosis. This study was designed to determine the clinicopathological characteristics and the relationship histological grade with breast carcinoma subtype molecular luminal B. Methods : This is an descriptive analytic study with cross sectional design using secondary data of breast carcinoma patients registered at RSUP Mohammad Hoesin Palembang for the period of January 1, 2014 - December 31, 2016. Result: From 903 breast carcinoma patients in RSUP Mohammad Hoesin Palembang, 394 patients had breast carcinoma subtype molecular luminal B. The incidence and prevalence of breast carcinoma subtype molecular luminal B in 2016 were 4.7 per 10 breast carcinoma patients and 4.4 per 10 breast carcinoma patients. The majority of breast carcinoma subtype molecular luminal B occur in the group of patients aged ≥ 40 years (81.7%), female (98.7%), Malay race (100%), marital status (98.8%) , housewives (68.3%), histopathological carcinoma invasive non- specific type (75.9%), basic diagnosis with primary histology (89.5%), high grade/ grade III (63.7%), localized (60.6%), surgical management (51.4%), no metastases (60.0%), right-sided tumor laterality (50.8%) and with HER2- (65.2%). There was no significant relationship between histopathological type and breast carcinoma molecular subtype luminal B (p = 0.499). There was a significant relationship between the histopathology grade and breast carcinoma molecular subtype luminal B (p = 0.009). Conclusion: breast carcinoma molecular subtype luminal B at RSUP Mohammad Hoesin Palembang has poor clinicopathological characteristics, especially in terms of histopathological grade, Ki67 index and age. Key words: breast carcinoma, molecular subtype, luminal B, histopathological type, histopathological grade
