Abstract
Background: Tuberculosis is the second deadliest infectious disease. In 2014 TB cases in Palembang were 1.305, while in 2017 it increased to 2.618 cases.TB can lead into DM, this is caused by consumtion of OAT especially rifampicin and isoniazid which can increase blood levels. Method: This study used an observational analytic method with a longitudinal retrospective study approach. Sampling was carried out usingthe purposive sampling technique with a total of 38 respondents in Palembang City Health Center in June-October 2019. Results: Out of 38 patients, more patients were found aged 46-65 years (47.37%, 18 out of 38) and there were more men than women (57.89% 22 out of 38). The highest frequency of the education of the patient is low education (primary school-junior high school) (81.58%, 31 out of 38) with 26 patients from primary school education and 5 patients from junior high school education. The highest frequency of nutritional status was underweight (65.79%, 25 out of 38). The average blood glucose level in the initial phase of pulmonary TB treatment was 105.00 mg/dL with a standard deviation of 30.63 and the average blood glucose level in the advanced phase was 113.34 mg / dL with a standard deviation of 36.18. In the Shapiro Wilk normality test, the value p=0.00024 was obtained for data on blood glucose levels in the initial phase of pulmonary TB treatment and the value p=0.00004 was obtained for blood glucose levels in the advanced phase of pulmonary TB treatment, so the data were not normally distributed. From the Wilcoxon test, the value of p=0.1615 was obtained, so the research hypothesis was rejected. Conclusion: There is no difference in blood glucose levels between TB treatment phases in Palembang City Health Center. Keywords: blood glucose; tuberculosis; OAT; anti-tuberculosis medication.
