Abstract

Background. Glaucoma is a disease that can cause the optical nerve damage, due to aqueous humors build up and increases pressure within eyes, therefore leads to the abnormality of visual field. Some risk factors can contribute such as age, high intraocular pressure, and diabetes mellitus. This research aimed to know the correlation between age, intraocular pressure, diabetes mellitus and primary open angle glaucoma degree. Method. This research used observational analytic method based on cross sectional study by analyzing medical records of fifty four subjects with primary open angle glaucoma. Result. There are no correlations between the degree of primary open angle glaucoma and age (p=1.000), and diabetes mellitus (p=0.536); however, a significant correlation between the degree of open angle glaucoma and intraocular pressure can be known from p value less than 0.05 (p=0.010).Conclusion. There are no significant correlations between the degree of primary open angle glaucoma and age and diabetes mellitus. Furthermore, there is a significant correlation between primary open angle glaucoma degree and intraocular pressure.
