Abstract

This study is aims to know the description of learned helplessness in terms of explanatory style among parking officers in OKU’s district. The population of the study is 262 parking officers that spread over three district, that is in OKU’s district, east OKU’s district and south OKU’s district. The researcher sample was 150 peoples and 30 peoples used for try out subjects. This research used kuota sampling for the technic of sampling. This study measurement instrument using explanatory style scale that refers to 3 dimentions of Explanatory Style by Seligman (2006). The dimentions is permanence, pervasiveness: spesifik vs universal, dan personalization: internal vs external. The results of this study is show that variable explanatory style is at the high level of learned helplessness’s category among parking officers in OKU’s district. Learned Helplessness among parking officers in OKU’s district affected by age (>60 years), education (Elementary School), length of work (25 years – 37 years) and marital status (married). For each dimensions that is permanence, pervasiveness, and personalization, all of the subjects are at the high level of category for each districts. In other words, the three dimensions of learned helplessness are highly affect for subject in each districts.
