Abstract

The aims of the research to determine the effect of giving probiotics and organic acids from (Hymenachne acutigluma) silage to the percentage of small intestine weights and caeca. This research lasted for two months in the experimental cage of the Animal Husbandry and Nutrition and Food Study Program Department of Animal Husbandry Technology and Industry, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used experimental method by using 72 Pegagan ducks which are 6 months old with 6 treatments 4 replications consisting of: P0 (control), P1 (basal ration + organic acid), P2 (basal ration + probiotic), P3 (basal ration + Tetracycline), P4 (basal ration + organic acid + probiotic) ), P5 (basal ration + organic acid + probiotics + tetracycline) data were analyzed descriptively. The observed variables were small intestine weight, duodenal weight, jejenum weight, ileum weight and caeca weight. The results in this study indicate that the effect of giving probiotics and organic acids from ( Hymenachne acutigluma) silage can increase the weight of the small intestine, duodenum, jejenum, ileum and caeca. The conclusion of this study is the provision of probiotics and organic acids from (Hymenachne acutigluma) silage can increase the weight of the small intestine, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, and caeca Pegagan duck optimally.
