Abstract

Background: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a collection of symptoms in the form of pain, numbness and tingling that occur due to pressure on the median nerve caused by the transverse carpal ligament in the carpal tunnel in the wrist. CTS occurs in someone who does work. One of the risk factors that influence CTS is incorrect posture at work, increasing the wrist angular deviation from neutral position. Kinova Software is used to know the wrist angle. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between wrist angle with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) among craftsmen in Palembang City. Method: This research was an observational analytic study with a cross sectional study design using a total sampling technique. The subjects were 32 respondents of among craftsmen in the Sentra Kain Tenun Tuan Kentang of Palembang. Interviews and physical examinations were conducted to determine complaints of CTS and the wrist angle was measured using the Kinovea Software. Data were analyzed using the Fisher Exact Test. Results: The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between the wrist angle and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) among craftsmen. (p=0,023, OR=11). Conclusion: There is a relationship between wrist angle and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) among craftsmen in Palembang City.
