Abstract

The process of moving coal from moving the train to the apron feeder is damage to the apron feeder that is used to transport coal. The damage is a depletion of the bucket layer. SMAW to improve the bucket apron feeder. By using metallography to see the microstructure in the welding results and using vickers and charpy impact to determine the mechanical strength of the improved bucket apron feeder. The result is a change in the microstructure of the damaged metal, this change is caused by Mn and plastic deformation, and there is a difference in size between the metal that has been damaged and the metal that has not been repaired. It is shaped like a martersite but not hard but brittle. Mechanical testing using vickers and impact, it was found that the material which is still possible to be reused after repairs, because it involves the test results shows that it is still feasible to improve the repair using SMAW welding.
