Abstract

Background: Stress is a psychological problem that is often experienced by everyone. In Indonesia the incidence of stress increases every year. Some of the effects of stress are changes in Body Mass Index which leads to underweight, overweight, and obesity. The impact of excess BMI can prevent degenerative diseases, while the impact of BMI can prevent infectious diseases. This study aims to determine the relationship of stress with BMI on Medical Study Program Students of the Faculty of Medicine Sriwijaya University Method: The type of research to be conducted is analytic observational research with cross sectional design. Samples taken were 81 students. The data obtained are primary data that are taken directly to the respondent data Result: From the results of the Chi Square analysis test, there was no relationship between stress and underweight BMI and the relationship between stress and overweight/obesity BMI with successive p-values is p = 0,604 and p = 0,191. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between stress and underweight BMI and between stress and overweight/obesity.BMI Keyword Stress, Body Mass Index, Medical Student
