Abstract

The title of this research is “The Effort to Preserve The Existence of Kambang Koci Funeral Site in Palembang City on 1993-2001”. Issues have been discussed were how the existence of Kambang Koci Funeral Site in Palembang City on 1993-2001 and how the effort to preserve Kambang Koci Funeral Site. This research was done to informing and explaining the effort of existence preserving of Kambang Koci Funeral Site in Palembang City. Research method used was historical method by using steps of heuristic, resource critical, interpretation, and historiography. While research approach used were sociology approach and anthropology approach. Base on the result, Kambang Koci Funeral is funeral site comes from a land gifted by Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin 1 to the children, grandchildren, and his son-daughter-in law. Kambang Koci Funeral has a strategic location near Musi River which made people trying to take the land of it. Even, side of the harbor also wants to take the land in order to expand their area by overthrowing the main enter of Kambang Koci Funeral. Getting into this circumstance, a man owns this funeral doing any efforts to preserve the esictence of Kambang Koci Funeral Site by held pray gathering annually and asking help of Archaeology Bureau. Eventually, Archaeology Bureau doing a research and decided Kambang Koci Funeral Site as a site must be preserved. Keywords: Preserving Effort, Existence, Funeral Site, Kambang Koci, Palembang
