Abstract

PEGASIS (Power Efficient Gathering in Sensor Information System) is a routing protocol in Wireless Sensor Network based on chain communication. Each nearest neighbor node will communicate with each other alternately and construct a chain for transmit data to the Base Station (BS) so as to shorten the transmission distance of each node and reduce energy consumption. Optimization PEGASIS routing protocol is done by dividing the nodes into two zones the upper zone of the chain head (CH) and the lower zone of the chain head (CH) then each node will form a chain in each zone. The Simulated Annealing Algorithm is implemented at the Base Station (BS) to select the chain head (CH) and form a roughly optimal chain. The analysis is carried out by using several parameters such as network lifetime, data gathered, throughput, packet delivery ratio, and delay. After optimization the lifetime of the PEGASIS routing protocol increased by 28% with the total amount of data collected increasing by 15%. The value of PEGASIS routing protocol Optimization throughput has increased from 703.18 Kbps to 983.10 Kbps with the packet delivery ratio increasing from 98% to 99%. Optimization of the PEGASIS routing protocol also reduces the average delay from 16 ms to 7 ms.
