Abstract

The plan of the treatment in industrial engine should be prepared as good as possible so that it can minimize the damage that occurs suddenly. One way of detecting the damage of an equipment system is by analyzing the characteristics of vibration that caused by the system. It is needed a vibration measuring instrument to measure the vibration. The vibration measuring instrument is not an inexpensive tool, and can only be reached by the middle industry group and up. Therefore, it is made a prototype design of the vibration measuring instrument which is much cheaper and can be used to detect damage in an engine. Vibration measuring instrument which is designed from MEMS Accelerometer ADXL 345 sensor, microcontroller Arduino UNO, and is programmed to use MATLAB software for the result of vibration signal analysis in the form of graph and FFT spectrum. The data which is got from ADXL 345 is in the form of the acceleration vector of the three axes. Then the data is processed by MATLAB to be plotted in the form of time graph and changed into frequency domain function as FFT. This measuring instrument is tested to detect the bearing defect. From the result of the analysis it is found that the vibration in normal and defective bearing shows the characteristic of different spectrum in the radial direction which is x and y. In the axial directed of z-axis the response of vibration signal is not detected. In defective bearing condition, signal characteristics from FFT spectrum has various amplitude vibration value in the range of frequency 18-35 Hz with the highest value of amplitude vibration are 0,22g and 0,24g.
