Abstract

The Formula Electric car suspension system in the Formula Society of Automotive Engineering (FSAE) Japan competition .The competition for students from all over the world competition in designing, building and competing in Formula-Style racing cars. In this competition the regulations are tightly regulated for the safety of participants when competing where the Suspension System has its own regulations which can produce cars that can have high maneuverability with excellent stability. Where the suspension system requires the car to be stable and safe to drive when bump conditions, roll and steer. This paper the suspension system is designed using two softwares Solidworks 2018 and Lotus Suspension Analysis. The design process is carried out with Solidworks in accordance with the regulations after getting results from Solidworks, the coordinate points obtained from Solidworks are then followed by Lotus Suspension Analysis software. After testing through the Lotus Suspension Analysis software during bump, steer, roll conditions, kinematics parameters will be obtained when the vehicle is maneuvering such as conditions when Anti-dive and Anti-squat, Toe, Trackwidth change, Roll Chamber, and Arckermen Geomerti. After getting the optimal parameters, it can be continued back to the 2018 Solidworks software, namely static simulation so that the suspension system has a safe yield strength. So that the final design of the suspension system that has been standardized with FSAE Japan's regulations was obtained and could be used as a reference for Sriwijaya University's electric cars, namely BSO Sriwijaya Eco in making the upcoming electric formula car suspension system
