Abstract

Urinary Tract Infection is the most common infection in health care facility, either in outpatients and inpatients. The use of antibiotics is the main option to cure Urinary Tract Infection. The presence of multi-drug resistance bacteria can be a challange to cure the infection. The aim of this study is to determine the sensitivity patterns of bacteria that cause UTI toward some antibiotics in Clinical Microbiology Laboratory RSMH July until December 2018. This study is a descriptive study, using medical record data in Clinical Microbiology Laboratory RSMHfrom July-December 2018. 434 urine specimen of UTI patients’ medical record data were used in this study, whereas 220 (50.7%) of it were find on males, and 214 (49.3%) of it were find on females. 6900 urine speciment were diagnosed with Urinary Tract Infection. There were 26 kinds of bacteria which were tested against some antibiotics using vitek-2. Most of the bacteria are Escherichia coli (40.4%), this bacteria were sensitive against second-line antibiotics such as tigecycline (100%), amikacin (99.5%), nitrofurantoin (80.4%). Third-line antibiotics such as meropenem (97.9%), ertapenem (95.8%), piperacillin/tazobactam (69.0%) and cefepime (60.2%) were still considered as sensitive. In this study the most commonly found bacteria are Escherichia coli. The most sensitive antibiotic against this bacteriais tigecycline (100%) and the most resistance is ampicillin (90.5%).
