Abstract

This study aims to know the mathematical problem solving ability through PBL on sequences and series material. This research was conducted using a descriptive study approach. Thirty students on grade at SMP Negeri 1 Banyuasin II were used a subject in this study. The process of teaching will be customixed with the principle and characteristic of PBL. Techniques of data colection is done by using written test which has 3 descriptions question, an observation, and an interview. This result shows that the students’s problem solving ability through PBL on the sequences and series material has 4 categories, 3 students are very good category; 9 students are well category, 8 students are enough category, 5 students are less category. So, the mean is PBL can used learning reference for teacher to apply in next lesson to advance the students mathematical problem solving skill.
